munchkin art auction

oh no! at some point the art closet ran out of glue sticks and fingerpaint.
you know what that means? fundraising time.

this year we got fancy with an art auction.
we magically raised about $1500.

check it out, munchkins!
you are now gallery artists. :)

In the deep dark cave

thinking back to my art history classes, we started at the very beginning.
we talked about cave art.
no one is exactly sure who made them or why, but we do know that it's the oldest form of art that has been discovered.

after a few weeks of looking at pictures the lascaux cave paintings, painting with pinecones and sticks, and fingerpainting buffalo... it was time to go on an art adventure.

to our very own cave!
(free fieldtrips, anyone? go go go!)

little bats say hello.

(the teachers lounge converted into a mysterious cave)
use your sneaky feet! there are bears lurking around...

(close the blinds, set up some lamps & christmas trees, and  turn up the rain maker)
munchkins got to doodle on the walls with some oil pastels.

drawing like cavemen.

(set up the lunch table and some blankets as an alcove)
some of our little adventurers found the FEROCIOUS FLUFFY DUCKY!
we told some creepy cave stories in the dark.

the munchkins turned out to be very brave little adventurers.
